From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of heroes, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to begin their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear out of place, but the events of the third episode show why these particular heroes are best suited for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the party knows exactly where to go next after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.
Casimir then paid off his debts and fled to a secure base in the northern region, north of the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, wants retribution.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- However, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the group reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter swore a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The cleric turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in search of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
According to episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Questers and Schemers parties.
Viewers can expect discovering which players will be where in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on next week.
