The EU might “act quickly and firmly” against what it calls “unwarranted” travel bans issued by the United States on five European individuals working on combating digital hatred and disinformation, an EU official stated.

EU Officials Decry US Action as ‘Intimidation’

European leaders such as the French president accused the US administration of “coercion and intimidation”, following the visa restrictions targeted figures who have been at the heart of campaigns to enact laws regulating American tech companies.

“For far too long, European activists have spearheaded coordinated campaigns to coerce American platforms to suppress American viewpoints they disagree with,” wrote a senior US official in a social media post. “This government will no longer tolerate these egregious acts of extraterritorial censorship.”
